Final consumers ultimately convert intermediate final energy (such as electricity or diesel) into useful energy in their appliances, machines and plants. Examples of useful energy include space heating and cooling, ICT power, lighting, and mechanical work. The concept of energy services goes one step further in the direction of consumer benefits. For the mobility sector we specify the energy service in kilometers instead of the useful energy (mechanical work).
